Funds related to helping others
Netherlee and Stamperland Church manage several funds which enable us to fund individuals and groups to undertake specific tasks or projects. Information on three funds is given below. If you believe that you or your organisation might meet the funding criteria, please do make contact by writing to the Session Clerk or the church office.
The James Findlay Nelson Memorial Trust Fund

Established in memory of James, beloved son of Rev Thomas and Mrs Catherine Nelson, the James Findlay Nelson Memorial Trust Fund is held as a designated fund in Netherlee Church accounts, to promote Christian Youth Work and encourage young Christians associated with Netherlee Church and the Nelson family.
The Trust Deed for the James Findlay Nelson Memorial Trust Fund states the trustees as being Netherlee’s Former Minister, Mr. Tom Nelson, Netherlee’s Session Clerk, Netherlee’s Treasurer and a member of the Nelson family – currently Mrs Catherine Nelson.
Grants have already been awarded to a number of young people who have undertaken a variety of projects such as serving in an orphanage in Zambia, working with the Bible Society in Malawi, volunteering with Scripture Union Summer Camps and attending the Keswick Convention.

One young person returning after a trip to Africa said, “I am extremely grateful for the James Nelson Trust which allowed me to embark on a life changing experience that has completely transformed my outlook on life and has made me a better person.”
Donations to the fund are welcomed and we hope the fund capital will continue to grow, with grants being paid from the interest earned. Applications to the James Findlay Nelson Memorial Trust Fund should be made in writing to the Session Clerk.
The Stanley D Mair Memorial Lectureship in the Preaching Ministry
The Rev. Stanley Mair was Minister of Netherlee Church from 18 April 1947 until his untimely death on 1 August 1976. Following his death, a trust fund to administer the lectureship was set up from congregational subscription. This lectureship is designed to further the teaching of preaching within the Faculty of Divinity at Glasgow University and covers the relationship of preaching, public worship, and pastoral care.
It funds the annual lectureships by prominent academics, theologians and others to students of Glasgow University studying for the full time Ministry. The fund meets the costs of the lecturers who, in addition to lecturing to the students for a week, are required to preach in Netherlee at the end of the week and to report on their work with the students.
Common Good Fund

The Common Good Fund of Netherlee Parish Church has been established to provide financial assistance to those individuals in the communities of Netherlee and Stamperland, Glasgow and East Renfrewshire areas thought worthy of support.

Applications can be made to the church at anytime directly, please send requests to netherleechurch@gmail.com or by referrals made via info@ergoodcauses.co.uk.
All referrals are treated in strictest confidence.

Funds are available to individuals, educational establishments, childrens’ charities, the elderly and Scottish branches of chosen charities and may also supplement donations form other Churches of Scotland especially groups raising funds for the same charity.

The Common Good Fund may arrange for Participatory Budgeting events from time to time as Community Events. Any individual or group with support by a constituted group can apply. This allows the constituted group to manage the money and the un-constituted individual or group to deliver the project. Separate details of how to apply will be published well before the event in the Community and on-line.
